The Sphere, Las Vegas

This was an experience like nothing you could imagine. We went to see ‘postcards from the earth’ but I can only imagine how amazing U2 must have been! I’d suggest being an hour to 40 minutes before show time, you have to queue outside. Then once you get through ticket scan and security you can spend an hour getting an avatar made and listening to AI robots, they actually can converse with you! There’s also food and drinks, it’s pretty pricey but service was excellent. Then up into the auditorium which is huge! I won’t say much in this summary to spoil the show but the scale and resolution of the images and the movement of the matching audio is insanely good, spoiler alert more about that below the fold!

Do yourself a favour, if you’re in Vegas you simply MUST see this!

I went to see “Postcards from the Earth” at Sphere and it blew my expectations out of the water. We queued outside about 40 minutes before showtime and zipped through ticket scan and security. Inside, I spent an hour getting a custom avatar made and chatting with Aura, the AI robots that actually held conversations (surreal but addictive). There was food and drink on site too definitely on the pricier side, but the polished service made the splurge feel justified.

Stepping into the auditorium felt like walking into another world. The wraparound interior LED screen covered roughly 160,000 sq ft and ran at an astonishing 16K×16K resolution over 250 million pixels, making it the highest-resolution LED surface on earth. Images were so crisp and vivid I half-expected to feel rain or dust underfoot.

Then the audio kicked in. Sphere’s hidden array of 167,000 individually controlled speakers used advanced 3D beamforming technology to deliver concert-grade sound that followed you seat by seat like invisible headphones. Every whisper, every thunderous bass drop landed precisely where I sat, turning dialogue into an intimate whisper and explosions into a full-body rumble.

The venue itself is a marvel of modern engineering. At 366 ft tall and 516 ft wide, it’s the largest spherical building in the world , with a seating capacity of 17,600 and room for up to 20,000 when standing  . Outside, the exosphere displays 580,000 sq ft of LED panels that light up the Las Vegas skyline, imagine a giant digital canvas visible for miles.

When the show began, I was completely lost in the scale and clarity: sweeping landscapes blended seamlessly into close-ups, and audio cues moved in perfect sync with on-screen action. Subtle 4D effects, like a gentle breeze or a faint scent of pine added another layer of immersion without ever feeling gimmicky.

If you find yourself in Vegas and crave an experience that redefines “live show,” “Postcards from the Earth” at Sphere is an absolute must. It wasn’t just another night out—it was stepping into the future of entertainment, where cutting-edge visuals, pinpoint audio and interactive tech come together to create something truly unforgettable.
