I found myself at Dolma near Fountain Square, tucked opposite the Azerbaijani Literature Museum, looking for a very unique local experience with my colleague. The location felt a little daunting before I stepped inside, but once weI did we found a creative Interior that nodded to old Baku, without feeling like a museum exhibit. It felt spacious enough to accommodate a crowd, yet still cosy as a unique experience spot.

We were greeted by friendly staff who where genuinely pleased to see us, and that set the tone right away. The menu blended European flair with Azerbaijani classics: I tried a starter that riffed on local flavours but felt polished enough for someone used to fine dining. Every bite reminded me why regional dishes can surprise you (think familiar ingredients presented with a fresh twist). My colleague went for something more traditional, and the food made it clear the kitchen respected both heritage and innovation.

The service flowed at a relaxed pace: no rush between courses, but not so slow it felt like waiting for a bus. I appreciated small touches: a group of local musicians that never drowned out conversation, thoughtful plating that made each dish Instagram-worthy but never at the expense of flavour, and a layout that let you choose a quiet corner or sit where you could watch the flow of guests arriving and leaving.

All told, I had a lovely time at Dolma: it felt both familiar and novel, like revisiting a cherished recipe that had been given a stylish update. If you’re looking for a memorable meal with your other half, it was well suited indeed—friendly atmosphere, creative interior, and food that delivered on both comfort and curiosity.
